Toronto’s music industry, particularly the Hip/Hop scene, has been shaped by violence. BEATCAVE is working hard to challenge this status quo by creating a safe, inclusive community, where creatives can come to connect, learn, and share knowledge. By bridging the gap between genres and allowing creatives to sonically experiment, the mixed tapes created at CAMP's are as diverse as the participants who attended.
CAMP GETAWAY had its inaugural year in the fall of 2021. BEATCAVE had previously hosted CAMP's in Toronto but CAMP GETAWAY had a different mission: get people out of the city to connect with nature, other creatives, and of course make amazing music. From the bus ride up, and the countless recording sessions, to the community circle where participants courageously let go of limiting beliefs, this powerful experience was described as, “life-changing” and the “highlight of the year”.
3 hours north of Toronto, CAMP GETAWAY is an immersive two-day creative retreat. With access to all the amenities of a summer camp; including indoor and outdoor basketball courts, archery, a climbing wall, and watersports.
Pop-up studios are set up throughout the campground as well as creative spaces where people can collaborate. Workshops are held on the second day of the camp and highlight different aspects of the industry from technical production/ engineering to artist development, content creation, and release strategy.
CAMP GETAWAY is a "choose your own adventure" experience that aims to have a mix of organized activities with enough time to relax, unwind, and create at your own pace. The goal is to have everyone leave CAMP GETAWAY a little more stress-free and a lot more inspired.
The BEATCAVE community will be heading back to the South Bruce Peninsula for CAMP GETAWAY 2022 September 16-18th. With space for 100 creatives, CAMP GETAWAY 2022 is bound to be a unique experience and a great way to start your fall. If you are an artist, producer, or engineer this weekend is for you.
